Unable to Switch a Database Export to Manual Mode

Overview

Sometimes users may be unable to switch a database export from automatic to manual mode, even though they have the correct permissions.
This issue is often temporary and can be related to browser state or cached UI data, rather than permissions or configuration errors.

This article explains why this can happen and how to resolve it.

Symptoms

You may notice one or more of the following:

  • Error appears when switching a database export to manual

  • The change does not save after clicking Manual

  • No clear permission or validation error is shown

  • Other exports may work normally

  • Retrying later succeeds without any configuration changes

Why This Happens

In most cases, this behavior is caused by:

  • Browser cache or stale session data

  • Temporary UI state issues

  • Tenant-specific UI behavior

Even when permissions are correct, cached data can prevent the UI from accepting the change.

What Does Not Cause This Issue

This issue is not typically caused by:

  • Missing permissions (when standard export permissions are already granted)

  • Destination configuration errors

  • Workflow or orchestration failures

How to Resolve the Issue

Try the following steps in order:

Step 1: Use an Incognito / Private Browser Window

  • Open an incognito or private window

  • Log in to Amperity

  • Try switching the export to Manual again

Step 2: Clear Browser Cache

If the incognito window works:

  • Clear your browser cache and cookies

  • Refresh the page

  • Try the change again in a normal browser window

Step 3: Retry After Some Time

If the issue still occurs:

  • Wait a short time and retry

  • Temporary UI state issues often resolve on their own

When to Contact Support

Contact Support if:

  • The issue persists across multiple browsers

  • Incognito mode does not help

  • You consistently cannot change export modes

  • Multiple users see the same behavior

Support can then investigate tenant-level behavior if needed.

Best Practices

  • Use incognito mode when troubleshooting UI-related issues

  • Refresh or clear cache after making frequent configuration changes

  • Avoid keeping the same settings page open for long periods

  • Confirm changes are saved before navigating away

Summary

If you are unable to switch a database export to manual mode, the issue is often caused by temporary browser or UI state, not permissions.

Trying incognito mode, clearing cache, or retrying later usually resolves the problem without any configuration changes.
