Segment Insights Showing “Metric is not configured” on the Summary Tab

You may see “Metric is not configured” on the Summary tab across multiple segments in Segment Insights. This article explains why this appears and how you can easily resolve it.

What’s Going On?
Some users noticed that all segments in their tenant were showing the message “Metric is not configured” in the Summary tab.
We checked and confirmed that this behavior was not caused by any Amperity outage or deployment.

Why This Happens
The issue occurs when summary metrics are turned off from a segment’s Summary Settings.

This setting is tenant-wide, meaning:

  • If summary metrics are disabled in one segment,
  • The change affects every segment in the tenant.

How to Fix It
You can restore the Summary tab by re-enabling the metrics:
1. Open the Segment Insights page.
2. Click the Actions (⋯) menu on the segment.
3. Select Summary Settings.
4. Turn the Summary Metrics back on.
5. Save your changes.

Once enabled, the Summary tab will immediately start showing data again.

  • Summary Settings apply to the entire tenant.
    Any changes here affect all users and all segments.
  • Check with your team before modifying tenant-wide settings to avoid unexpected behavior.
