Summary
Some users may experience issues when trying to create, edit, or run campaigns in the Activations tab, even if they have the AmpIQ user role assigned. This typically occurs when the RESTRICT DATA EXPORTS policy is applied to their accounts.
Symptoms
Users with the AmpIQ role cannot create campaigns.
Attempting to create or run a campaign results in no error but the action is blocked.
Other permissions like viewing PII or downloading data remain restricted according to separate policies.
Cause
The RESTRICT DATA EXPORTS policy prevents users from performing actions that involve creating, editing, or running campaigns and orchestrations.
This policy overrides the capabilities granted by the AmpIQ role.
Users may still have the role assigned, but their campaign functionality is blocked due to this policy.
Resolution
Review the user’s policies in Tenant Settings → Users.
Identify if the RESTRICT DATA EXPORTS policy is applied.
If the user needs access to campaigns, remove the RESTRICT DATA EXPORTS policy.
Confirm that users can now create, edit, and run campaigns.
Important: Removing RESTRICT DATA EXPORTS does not grant access to PII or allow downloading sensitive data. PII visibility and download controls are managed separately via Restrict PII Access and Restrict Download Access settings.
Example Scenario
Two users were unable to create campaigns even though they had the AmpIQ role. Investigation revealed the RESTRICT DATA EXPORTS policy was applied to their accounts. After removing the policy, they were able to create, edit, and run campaigns successfully.
Best Practices
Always check for conflicting user policies when a user cannot access expected features, even if the correct role is assigned.
Use the Version History in Amperity to track changes to user policies.
Confirm separate policies controlling PII and download access remain intact when modifying campaign permissions.
